Cao Creations Donations to Spirit Reins Charity Auction
Michele Utt of MK Events recently contacted us here at Cao Creations about the amazing non-profit organization Spirit Reins and her involvement in organizing Strut 512 a premiere party benifiting Spirit Reins. We learned more about some of the great work Spirit Reins does for traumatized children here in Austin and wanted to do what we could do to help.
I wanted to donate two of my personal favorite pieces of art
Perseverance and Autumn Mist Austin Skyline for the live art auction at Strut 512. The art auction will be led by a professional auctioneer and all of the proceeds will be going to help Spirit Reins. My hope is that someone will walk away with a piece of art they love and in the same breath help out a great organization.
Hope to see you guys there.

Kevin Cao Dumbfoundead Typography Video
I wanted to quickly share an awesome typography music video that my very own brother Kevin Cao made for rapper Dumbfoundead.
Great Job Bro!
Two Worlds Painting Video – Downtown Austin Art
This painting was inspired by one of my visits downtown. I love the buzz of Austin downtown and how people of all kinds of backgrounds share and makeup the immediate population. I saw a well dressed business man rushing towards something important zooming by a seemingly homeless gentleman who looked somewhat less hurried in life. This inspired me to capture what I feel makes this city beautiful – it’s diversity.
I took digital images looking up at some of buildings that really stood out to me. I created a digital image that placed a worn down and abandoned parking garage right up against a glistening financial building. I felt like this represented both the economic and visual diversity of downtown. I also applied a layering technique that used several thinned-out coats of acrylic paint to create a sense of weathering and history found on many of the buildings. I felt like this layering method on my canvas mimicked what a new building goes through in its lifetime, giving the building it’s character, history and beauty.
I also added a little piece of myself to the painting by adding the business shoes hanging from the power lines. This symbolized my own experience of shedding the corporate life for a world in art. I can’t help but smile when I see them up there.
My very talented brother Kevin Cao shot and edited a great video of me making the painting, so we hope you enjoy.
Creative Art Business Cards
These business cards were designed in-house for Cao Creations using a slick finishing method called Spot UV. The glossy text finish pops off of the matte background and gives the perfect effect to convey the feeling of Cao Creations Art. I was very happy the way these came out and people seem to be very impressed by the creativity of the card. Awesome professional pictures were taken by Kevin Cao.
Freshest Blog Theme on the Block
I just wanted to give a quick shout-out to the developers of this particular blog theme Techdesigns. You can find all of their info in the info link to the left. I waded through hundreds of themes and finally just found the absolute coolest, minimalist and freshest theme out there. Also if you click on the customise link to the left you can change the color of the whole blog. How cool is that. Very thats how cool.

Fresh Start – A New Austin Artist Blog
Well it’s been three years since my last blog post, so I decided I needed to overhaul the whole operation and create a brand new blog for myself. The reason why it’s been three years since my last post is because honestly for awhile I didn’t have much to write about. I was just chugging along in my life, not excited about much. Then all of a sudden I had so much going on that I didn’t have much time to write about it (which just means I had a little bit more going on than usual and was too lazy to write about it).
Life seems to have evened itself out lately and I’m glad I found some motivation to put myself out there again. I realized the blog was important to inform new collectors about the artist they were investing in and also to thank my current collectors. Plus its a good way to keep up-to-date those who care to keep up with my life and my art.
So just to quickly recap the last few years for you, after ten years of dating I rushed in and got engaged to the love of my life Cyndra (she is my wonderful partner in life and business). We moved to a nice place in NW Austin about a year ago.
Along with my bodacious brochacho Kevin and his awesome girlfriend Doon-gela, we are continuing to grow our automotive apparel business Mad Cows Design at a surprisingly fast rate even in a recession. We also recently started a new couples t-shirts business Chingu Tees which is in it’s early stages, but shows potential for equally impressive growth. Cao Creations paintings have been featured at several local Austin businesses and lots of collectors have picked up their very own pieces. I would quickly like to thank my collectors because you guys not only give me the motivation to share my art with you, but you give me the means to pursue my passions; I’m so humbled and appreciative of that.
And in the near future we are opening up an even newer business venture in the NW Austin area. Hope to keep everyone updated on that.
Well that’s what I’ve been up to, hope to have some more pictures and stories to share with you soon. Hopefully it won’t be another three years before I do.
